  • "Technival 18" held at KUET
    April 21, 2018
  • "Technival 18"- A two-days long technical carnival was held at KUET from 20-21 April, 2018. On 20 April, VC of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present as the Chief Guest in the inauguration ceremony of the festival. Dean of EEE Faculty Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rafiq and Head of ECE Department Prof. Dr. A B M Aowlad Hossain were present as Special Guests. Prof. Dr. Md. Faruque Hossain was the Convener of this Technival 18. More than 550 students from country’s public and private universities and 200 students from the schools were participated in the festival. Line Follower Race, Battle of Bots, Gaming Contest, Workshop, Rubik’s Cube, IT Contest, Sudoku Master, Project Showcasing, Gaming Contest, MATLAB Challenge, Poster Presentation competitions were held in the festival. In the event of Battle of Bots International Islamic University Chittagong have been awarded as the Champion and Shahjalal University of Science & Technology have been awarded as the Runners up. In the event of Line Follower Race Shahjalal University of Science & Technology have been awarded as the Champion and Dhaka University have been awarded as the Runners up.


  • ICE Fiesta and CEM Workshop 2018 held at KUET

  • Department of Building Engineering and Construction Management (BECM), KUET and Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Bangladesh Association were jointly organized ICE Fiesta and CEM Workshop 2018 on 19 April, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the student welfare centre. Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, Vice-Chancellor, KUET attended the Inaugural Ceremony as Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Kazi ABM Mohiuddin, Convener, ICE Fiesta and CEM Workshop 2018 and Head, Department of BECM, KUET presided over the event. Mr. I. A. Khan, OBE, PEng, CEng, FICE, Prof. Dr. Quazi Hamidul Bari, Dean, Faculty of CE, Mr. Abu Saleh Md. Nuruzzaman PEng, Secretary, ICE Bangladesh Association were present as Special Guests.


  • Fresher's Reception & Farewell Ceremony held at BECM Department

  • Fresher’s Reception of the students of `17 batch and Farewell ceremony of outgoing graduate students of `13 batch of BECM department were held on 18 April, 2018 at the student welfare center at 5:30 PM. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Dean, Faculty of Civil Engineering Prof. Dr. Kazi Hamidul Bari and Head of BECM Department Prof. Dr. Kazi ABM Mohiuddin was present as the special Guests. Assistant Professor and President of BECM Association Md. Ikramul Hoque presided over the function. At the ceremony fresher’s students were received with flower and crest handed over the outgoing graduate students by the guests.


  • KUET Celebrated Pahela Baishakh 1425

  • Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) celebrated Pahela Baishakh, the Bengali New Year 1425 amid festivity on April 14, 2018. The whole university wore a festive dimension as the students of KUET installed stalls representing their respective halls for Baishakhi Fair with pure Bengali fashion building straw & clay made beautiful huts. Very special “Panta” (watery rice) with green chilies, sort of native and indigenous cakes etc were the main attractions in the fair. Celebration started in the early morning with the enchanting Tagor’s melody song “Esho hey Baishakh esho esho” at the Central Play Ground. At 10am a grand colorful procession (Mongol Shovajatra) to mark the Pahela Baishakh started and paraded the whole varsity campus, Fulbarigate area led by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir with participants in traditional attire wearing multi-coloured masks, palanquins etc. Cultural programmes, snake-charming, kite flying, cock fight, kabadi etc were also the day long native attractions of the day. Prize given ceremony also held at the after noon. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir attended all the programmes. In a short speech Vice-Chancellor said, Pahela Baishakh is deeply rooted in our heritage and we are proud of it. May the Bengali New Year bring message of joy for all and unite all to build a prosperous nation, he added. Students, Teachers, Officers and Staff of the university enjoyed the day long festival. Teachers Association, Officers Association and others of KUET also celebrated the day.

  • Honorable President of the people’s republic of Bangladesh Mr. Md. Abdul Hamid said, ‘‘the actual aim of universities is to open up the door for fresh knowledge, invention, research, develop creative activities of the students’’. Addressing the 3rd convocation ceremony of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET), president said, “We have to face the future challenges by developing our knowledge and skill to international standard.” He hoped that the young engineers would play vital role in establishing a ‘Digital Bangladesh’ through real life applications of their creative ideas and technological knowledge. President asked authorities concerned to ensure time-befitting world standard education reviewing the ‘academic curriculum’ of global esteemed universities. If the universities fail to ensure quality education on the respective campuses, the president said, it would not succeed to cope with competitive world as per the demand of time. Addressing the KUET students, president said, “You're going to start your professional career after crossing a milestone in life. The country expects a lot from you. With your service, honesty and patriotism you’ll take your motherland to a new height.” On the impact of mobile phone and social media, he said the excessive use of facebook, games, and mails creating isolation in the society, weakening the family bonding while children are getting self-centered. “We must remember technology or mobile phones are not to be blamed for this, rather the responsibility goes to its users”, he said. “Free thinking and cultural activities are needed to be exercised in a greater extent at universities as the educational institutions not only aim to provide certificate but also contributes in developing merit, intellectual practice among students”, he added. Terming the engineering education a very important one to build the nation, the president said the engineering and technology-based education can turn mass people into manpower. “Engineers in their thoughts and spirits should be farsighted. They have to develop their knowledge and efficiency as international standard for facing the challenges of new technologies,” suggested the President. Congratulating the new graduates on the occasion of the convocation, he advised the graduates to devote themselves to the task of nation-building along with their professional activities. The president also advised the graduates not to bow down their head to injustice and untruth as well as not to destroy their respects and morality for their personal interest. On the occasion, a total of 2795 students were given graduation degree certificate, 228 others post-graduation degree certificates, 48 got Master of Philosophy (MPhil), eight conferred on Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and 38 graduates got ‘University Gold Medal’. Noted scientist and educationist Prof Dr Mohammad Ali Asgar was present as the convocation speaker. He said, the most ever adventurous journey of mankind is searching for knowledge. Universities are the lighthouses of knowledge. Our country as well as our world will get which shape depends on how the Universities of the world being shaped so far. Chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) Professor Abdul Mannan was present as Special Guest. He said, I am very much delighted to attended 3rd convocation of this University. I’ve already visited this University before for various programs. When I comes here, I’m always impressed to see the increasing overall developments of this university and clean-green campus. UGC will be providing all kinds of support in future to sustain the ongoing development of this university. KUET Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammed Alamgir said in his welcome speech, Students, Teachers, Researchers and Graduates of this University will roam everywhere from the bottom of the blue ocean to the blue sky. What we need is more advanced infrastructures, skilled manpower and a world class research friendly environment all over to make an inseparable bridge of knowledge, science & technology between teachers and students. Dean of Civil Engineering Faculty Prof Dr Kazi Hamidul Bari, Dean of Electrical & Electronic Engineering Faculty Prof Dr Abdur Rafiq, Dean of Mechanical Engineering Faculty Prof Dr Mihir Ranjan Haldar and Registrar of the University G M Shahidul Islam were present in the event.   • KUET is ready for 3rd Convocation 2018

  • 3rd Convocation 2018 will be held at KUET on April 04, 2018 Wednesday at the central playground at the University campus. The Hon’ble President of People’s Republic of Bangladesh and the Chancellor of this University Md. Abdul Hamid will be Presided over the Convocation. UGC Chairman Prof. Abdul Mannan will be present as the special guest. Renowned Scientist & Educationalist Prof. Dr. Mohammed Ali Asgor will deliver his speech as the Convocation Speaker. In this Convocation 2795 students offered graduate degree and 228 students offered post graduate degree, in which BSc Engineering 2657, BURP 138, MSc 69, MSc Engineering 103, MPhil 48, and Ph D 08. Moreover, University Gold Medal handed over to the 38 Graduates for their academic top brilliant result. In this convocation 1832 BSc Engineering, 91 BURP, 17 MSc Engineering, 25 MSc, 05 MPhil and 07 PhD students has already completed their registration. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir aspect for cooperation from all related person, Journalists, Teachers, Officials, students and staffs of KUET and others to make the Convocation a grand success.   • KUET celebrated the Independence & National day of Bangladesh

  • Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) celebrated the country's 47 independence & National day on March 26, 2018 Monday by paying respect to the country’s most illustrious sons who were brutally killed by the Pakistani occupation forces and their collaborators in the nine-month bloody war with Pakistan in 1971. Dean, Faculty of ME Department of KUET Prof. Dr. Mihir Ranjan Halder, placed floral wreaths in front of the Liberation War Sculpture of KUET ‘Durbar Bangla’ at 09:30 AM on behalf of the University. Later, Teachers Association, Director (Student Welfare), Officers Association, Provosts and students of different Halls, KUET Chhatra league, 3rd Class Karmachari Samiti, 4th Class Karmachari Samiti, Masterroll Karmachary Samity, Bangabandhu Karmachari Parishad, Khulna Engineering University School, Unmesh Govt. Primary School & other organizations of KUET placed floral wreaths at the memorial. At 10 AM a drawing competition for children was held at the university auditorium. Prof. Dr. Mihir Ranjan Halder awarded prizes among the winners of drawing competition as the Chief Guest. After Asr prayer a milad-mahfil was arranged at the KUET central mosque to pray for the departed souls of the Nation’s bravest sons. Later, discussion meeting and screening of liberation war affairs held at the student welfare centre in the evening.


  • Genocide Day observed at KUET

  • Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) observed the Genocide Day in a befitting manner on the University campus. On 25 March at 7:00 PM teachers, students, officers and employees gathered and brought out a procession of candle light led by the Dean, Faculty of ME Faculty Prof. Dr. Mihir Ranjan Halder to remember March 25, 1971, the darkest night in the history of Bangladesh. Later, a discussion meeting held in front of Student Welfare Centre to mark the Genocide Day. Dean, Faculty of ME Prof. Dr. Mihir Ranjan Halder delivered speech as Chief Guest. Among other Registrar G M Shahidul Alam, General Secretary of Bangladesh Chattra Legue, KUET Sadman Nahiyan Sejan delivered speech. Director (Student Welfare) Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia presided over the program.


  • KUET celebrated the country's historic achievement of the eligibility to graduate to a developing country

  • Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) has chalked out a program to celebrate the country’s historic achievement of the eligibility to graduate to a developing country from the Least Developed Country (LDC) status. The authorities of KUET hold a joyous rally on the university campus to celebrate the country’s great achievement at 11am on 22 March. KUET Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir inaugurate the rally with delivered his speech. KUET VC said to Greeting the Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the government take challenges with the people of Bangladesh and made the impossible possible. He also remembered with gratitude Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, saying he had struggled throughout his life to change the people's fate. Director (Student Welfare) of KUET Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia also delivered his speech in the function. Bangladesh has become eligible to graduate to a developing country from a least developed one as it has met all the three criteria for getting out of the LDC bloc – for the first time. The Committee for Development Policy (CDP), a United Nations panel, made an announcement on the country’s eligibility at a meeting at the UN headquarters in New York.


  • Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's Birthday & National Children Day observed at KUET

  • With solemn respect the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children Day 2018 was observed at KUET. At 03:30 p.m. On 15 March, a discussion meeting was held at the Student Welfare Centre. VC of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present as the Chief Guest while Director (Student Welfare) Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia was presided over the meeting. Head of URP Department Prof. Dr. Md. Mustafa Saroar, Provost of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall Prof. Dr. Pintu Chandra Shill, Registrar G.M. Shahidul Alam were took part on the discussion meeting as Special Guest. Monoj Kumar Majumder, Public Relations Officer was represented the program. Among others Assistant Professor of URP Department Md. Hamidul Islam, General Secretary of Officers Association Md. Mahmudul Hasan, Senior Caretaker Cum Hall Assistant Md. Parvez Alam were also took part on the discussion meeting. On 17 March at 7:30 a.m. Recitation, essay writing, hand writing and drawing competition held for the student of Khulna Engineering University School (primary & secondary section) & Govt. Unmesh Primary School. At 9 a.m. teachers, students, officers, employees, teachers & students of the schools gathered and brought out a colorful procession led by the Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir. Vice-Chancellor placed floral wreath on behalf of the University at the portrait of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of Student Welfare Centre of KUET. Later, Teachers Association, Director (Student Welfare), Officers Association, Provosts and students of different Halls, Chattra Leage, Karmachari Samiti (3rd Class), Karmachari Samiti (4th Class), Bangabandhu Karmachari Parishad, Master roll Karmachary Samity, KUET School and other organizations of KUET placed floral wreath. At 10:00 a.m. Cultural programmes with the perform of the students of KUET School and Prize given ceremony held at the student welfare centre.   • External Peer Review Team (EPRT) members were met with the Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir on 15 March 2018 at 10:00 am at his office. The EPR Team visited KUET for the evaluation of self-assessment activities of the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University. The EPR team members were Prof. Dr. AGHJ Edirisinghe, Head, Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, Srilanka, Prof. Dr. M. Rafiqul Islam, Director, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell, BUET, Prof. Dr. Sheikh Reaz Ahmed, Department of Mechanical Engineering, BUET. This time Prof. Dr. Quazi Sazzad Hossain, Director and Prof. Dr. K. M. Azharul Hasan Additional Director of Institutional Quality Assurance Cell, KUET were also present there. The EPR Team were presented PSAC head in presence of Dean of the faculty and all faculty members of entity and EPRT about department activities including physical facilities, extra-curriculum activities and survey findings of the entity. They also meeting with Dean of the Faculty, Registrar, Director (Research & Extension), Director & Additional Director of IQAC, Director (Planning & Development), Director (Student Welfare), Librarian, Chief Medical Officer, Controller of Examination, Undergraduate & Postgraduate students, Alumni, Employer, academic staff, non-academic staff and visited Laboratories, Residential Halls, Auditorium and Gymnasium, Central Computer Center. They also observed of class room teaching; lesson plan and assessment process.

  • Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) observed March 7 this year with renewed pride as UNESCO has recognised Bangabandhu’s historic 1971 speech as part of world history. To mark the day a discussion meeting brought out with the Teachers, Officers, Staffs, Students of the University. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir took part on the discussion as the chief guest. Dean of CE Prof. Dr. Quazi Hamidul Bari and Dean of ME Prof. Dr. Mihir Ranjan Halder were took part on the discussion as special guests while Director (Student Welfare) Prof. Dr. Sobahan Mia was presided over the meeting. Among others Vice-President of Teachers Association Prof. Dr. Pintu Chandra Shill, Head of IEM Department Dr. Azizur Rahman, Lecturer of Humanities Department Abu Hena Mostofa Kamal, Registrar of KUET G M Shahidul Alam, General Secretary of Officers Association Md.   • KUET Teachers Association forms human chain protesting attack on Zafar Iqbal

  • Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) Teachers’ Association formed a human chain on the campus on 05 March, 2018 protesting the attack on eminent writer and educationist Professor Dr Mohammad Zafar Iqbal. The association held the human chain around 11:30 am at Durbar Bangla premises. KUET Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, Dean of ME Faculty Prof. Dr. Mihir Ranjan Halder, Head of Physics Department Prof. Dr. Shibendra Shekher Sikder, Head of URP Department Prof. Dr. Md. Mustafa Saroar, Head of IEM Department Dr. Md. Azizur Rahman, Provost (In-charge) of Rokeya Hall Monika Gope delivered speech while continuing the human chain. They demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the perpetrators. Teachers, Students, Officers and Staffs of the University also attended the program.

  • "High Definition Visual Computing and Multimedia Lab" inaugurated at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) founded by Bangladesh Hi-tech Park Authority, Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology. The inauguration ceremony was held on 3rd march, 2018 at 8:30 am at central computer centre organized by Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT). Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, State Minister, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division was inaugurated the lab as chief guest. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir, Project Director (Joing Secretary) of Support to Development of Kaliakoir project (and others Hi-tech park) A N M Shofiqul Islam were present as special guests. Director of IICT Prof. Dr. Bashudeb Chandra Ghosh Presided over the function. This High Definition Visual Computing and Multimedia Lab is dedicated to both fundamental and applied research in the areas of Big Data, Business Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Image Processing, Pattern Recognitation, Virtual Reality, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Imaging and Remote Sensing Data Analysis.

  • A two days long international conference on Chemical Science & Technology (ICCST-Chem 2018) held at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) on 24-25 February, 2018. The conference has been organized by the department of Chemistry, KUET. Vice-Chancellor of KUET Prof. Dr. Muhammed Alamgir was present as the chief patron and Prof. Dr. M. Muhibur Rahman, UGC Professor, Dhaka University was present as the chief guest of inauguration ceremony of the conference. Prof. Dr. Md. Azizul Islam, University of Rajshahi was present as the special guest. Welcome address delivered by Prof. Dr. Md. Hasan Morshed, Head, Department of Chemistry. Vote of Thanks delivered by the conference chair Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abu Yousuf. In Keynote Session the speakers was Prof. Dr. Manabu Abe, Hiroshima University, Japan. Scientists, researchers from home and abroad including Japan, Australia, Malaysia, Korea, India, scholars from different universities, deans of different faculties of KUET, departmental heads, directors, teachers, officers, students participated in the conference. The delegates, scientists, engineers, experts and guest expressed that the conference would be able to share knowledge and experiences to develop new ideas about proper utilize of Chemical facilities through use of new technologies. In the Conference 1 key note sessions, 10 technical sessions, 66 technical papers and 155 poster presented in 1 poster session.
